| Active Dried Yeast (ADY)
For decades yeast has been used as a nutritional feed supplement for many animal feed products. It is used in livestock and poultry feeds primarily as a source of protein at incorporation rates between 1 - 3 ppm. This high quality baker's yeast offers several important nutritional features:
- Naturally high levels of protein (45% minimum)
- A wide array of amino acids (16 total amino acids)
- A high concentration of the B vitamins
- Several minerals necessary for maintaining healthy animals (10 essential and trace minerals)

Product Characteristics
In addition to the important nutritional benefits from Active Dried Yeast, some other important characteristics are:
- Product has been fluid bed dried into short noodles which are easy to handle and free of dust or powder
- Greater then 99% of the product is Saccharomyces cerevisiae, while less than 1% is emulsifier which has been added to facilitate the drying process
- Live yeast cell count of 1 x 10 EXP 10, or 1,000,000,000 live cells per gram.

Direct Fed Microbials (DFM)
Typically referred to as "probiotics", DFM's are natural occurring active bacterial supplements, provided to animals at times of stress and often on a continuous preventative basis.
Silage Inoculants consist of active microorganisms that aid in the natural fermentation of various ensiled forages. The bacteria utilized in DFM's and Silage Inoculants are typically lactic acid producing bacteria. The conversion of ferment sugars to lactic acid has been theorized to be the major mode of action in both applications.

Available Contract Manufacturing
Based on the current human food grade production facility of Cypress, there exists both technical and production capabilities to produce several organisms used in the formulation of DFM's and silage inoculants.
However, due to their competitive position with food grade products and the potential survival following standard CIP procedures, various organisms (i.e. Aspergillus, Pediococcus and Streptococcus) can not be produced in the current facility. back to top |
