SelenoExcell® HIGH SELENIUM YEAST

What is SelenoExcell® High Selenium Yeast?

SelenoExcell® High Selenium Supplement SelenoExcell® High Selenium Yeast is a high potency (1,200 mcg/g), 100% organically bound selenium yeast product. As a natural nutritional food source, yeast replicates the mineral conversion process performed by most plants (i.e. garlic, broccoli). This natural plant process converts inorganic (low bioavailability, potentially toxic) minerals to safer organic (high bioavailability) forms for improved nutrient utilization.

SelenoExcell® has been selected as the sole intervention agent in a series of cancer prevention (colon, lung and prostate) and health related studies. Based on the Clinical Trial Agreement with the Cancer Prevention Division of the National Cancer Institute, leading research teams have selected SelenoExcellŽ based on its certification as 100% organically bound selenium and strictly controlled quality and production parameters.

SelenoExcell® Uses

SelenoExcell® has been shown to formulate well with many of the methods being used by nutraceutical companies. Whether producing capsules, tablets, hard gels or soft gels, the spray-dried form of SelenoExcell® provides the finished product manufacturer an ideal product for all their selenium formulation needs.

Production

It is produced from the introduction of selenium salt during active, aseptic, aerobic fermentation. During fermentation the temperature, pH, and percentage growth are closely regulated to assure proper uptake of selenium. This process produces a primary grown high protein yeast, which is fortified with a biologically bound mineral composition. The resulting product is washed, separated and held in refrigerated storage to assure cell viability and the absence of any "free" minerals. Prior to spray drying the chilled yeast cream is pasteurized through a high temperature sterilization system to assure that it meets or exceeds established USDA food grade microbial requirements. Composite samples are collected at designated intervals during the spray drying and packaging process. The collected sample is analyzed for nutrient and microbial composition by an outside, independent, USDA approved food and pharmaceutical grade laboratory. Once product has met all Quality Assurance/Quality Control requirements it is released for sale with a supporting Certificate of Analysis.

SelenoExcell® Product Highlights

  • Starts with a primary grown, pure culture yeast strain
Pure culture "mother stock" provides the proper starting material to assure organic binding, product consistency and strain purity for required quality control.

  • Natural form of selenium in 100% organically bound form.
Like plants, yeast converts inorganic (low bioavailability) forms of selenium into organic (high bioavailability) forms in a consistent and controllable digestive system.

  • SelenoExcell® provides a full composition of seleno compounds including amino acid complex, lipids and cellular by-layers.
This broad composition of seleno compounds increases the selenium bioavailability and digestive utilization at various absorption sites.

  • SelenoExcell® consistently provides minimal batch-to-batch variation.
Product consistency from each production batch is critical to research efforts and downstream formulation by tablet producers.

  • SelenoExcell® has been selected by leading cancer and health research groups.
Lon C. Baugh, Ph.D., Director of Fermentation at Cypress Systems, co-developed the product used in the Nutritional Prevention of Cancer Study conducted by the late Dr. Larry C. Clark of the University of Arizona, Arizona Cancer Center. Cypress continues to utilize this original production protocol and identifies its current product as SelenoExcell® High Selenium Yeast.

  • SelenoExcell® provides uniform size and shaped particles which meet stringent mesh requirements.
Providing a uniform size product where >97% of finished product passes through a 200 mesh screen is a benefit for tableting and may increase bioavailability.
